30 April is also known as Queensday in the Netherlands. It used to be in honor of a the birthday of queen Juliana, a day with music and open market in the streets. Her daughter, present queen Beatrix kept this holliday in tact. At her inauguration at 30 April 1980 in Amsterdam the fest turned into a riot, a rage about the spilling of so much money, with street restrictions for public days ahead and most of all the ignorance to the lack of houses.

Over the years the day changed from a tribute to royalty to a ladies day. Besides the street markets and music, women or men who feel like dressing up like a queen do so, without any restriction on their behaviour. This day is the day were women can go crazy in the streets. It is also an excesive alcohol slamming day, a day to get in a boat traffic jam for hours, work till late hours, go with the whole family to the city, make ends meet, and ofcourse dance.
