Both the government and press coverage has focussed attention on the virtually non-existent human rights abuses in Aristide's seven months in office. There were literally a handfull.

Aristide is described as strident, arrogant, as attacking civil society -civil society defined as the guys in the gold-plated cadillacs in the suburbs,- as instigating class hatred, because he is accusing the wealthy of being responsible for Haiti's poverty, which is obviously true.
