-Restaurant Akitsu. Rozengracht 228 - 230. Tel + 31 (0)20 6253254. Open from 18.00. to 22.00. Closed on Mondays. All mayor cards accepted. Very near Das Boot where Raul Marroquin lives with Truus Dokter, Marroquin's his base of operations. Naturaly one the favorite place for the Japanesse food lovers in De Hoeksteen.

-Balthazarīs Keuken. Defenetly a no go place (thatīs the reason why we donīt even give you the adress) As arrogant as it can get in Amsterdam. Even if you have reservations they will give you an attitude! One of those places where they force their "creative menus" down your throat. DONT EVEN TRY IT!!! -Brasserie van Baerle. v Baerlestr. 158. Tel + 31 (0)20 6791532.

-Restaurant Bordewijk. Noordermarkt 7 Tel + 31 (0)20 6243899. Open??? Better not to know. Pretentious and extremely bad. One of those places where they expect you to be happy because you can sit there. Over priced. Small portions of who knows what. Arrogant waiters. YOU DON'T WANT TO GO THERE!

-Cafe Restaurant Cox. Marnixstr. Open every day for Lunch and Diner (Kitchen open till 23.30) The place to meet actors and actricess lunch. Austrian, French, Indonidisian, Italian kitchen.

-Restaurant Goude Reael. Zandhoek 14 Tel: +31 (0)20 6233883. Open for Lunch and Dinner. No Lunch on Saturdays. Closed on Sundays. All mayor cards accepted. French Kitchen. Not bad, it used to be better. One of the best throughout the 80s. Beautiful terrace on the water.

-Restaurant Bodega Keyser. Van Baerlestr. 96 Tel: + 31 (0)20 6711441. Fax: + 31 (0)20 6737353 Open from 09.00 to 24.00. Kitchen open from 12.00 to 23.30. Closed on Sundays. All mayor cards accepted. French / Dutch Cuisine (whatever Dutch Cuisine is!) Nothing special. Overpriced. A place to meet friends and to be seen. Located near every interesting museum in Amsterdam and Het Concertgebouw (one of the concert halls in the city.)

-KHL, Oostelijke Handelskade 44, Amsterdam. Special correspondent Steven Huismans (President of Salto) went to check it out personally. It says it is a dinnerclub, gotten out of hand. Everybody is welcome, but on saturdays only, to eat there for costprice. Great atmosphere, very special service. Very often exhibitions, and live music.

-Restaurant De Kroon. Rembrandtsplein 17 Second floor. Tel: + 31 (0)20 6252011 Open every day from 10.00 to 01.00. Weekends from 10.00 to 02.00. Eurocard only. Right under the Salto studios, the location from where De Hoeksteen is transmitted. It is more a cafe than a restaurant with restaurant prices. It advertises French Cuisine but is better to go for the snacks. The place to meet for lunch when working upstairs. It can take some time to get your order but the service is polite and efficient. It has a terrace right on De Rembrantdsplein during the Summer.

-Restaurant De Oesterbar. Leidseplein10. Tel: + 31 (0)20 - 6263463 / 6232988. Fax: +31 (0)20 6232199. Open every day from 12.00. to 01.00. (closed during the Christmas holidays.) Two levels. Hoeksteeners prefer the second floor, it is charming and has a lot of privacy. All mayor cards accepted. Paradise for shell fish lovers. Ask for the oysters from Zeeland. The favorite place of the late Hoeksteen anchorman Otto Valkman and Raul Marroquin. When Otto was alive the two of them used to have lunch there every week. Excellent wines. Friendly Spanish waiters. De Oesterbar is been in business for more than 50 years. Since the Summer of 1996 De Oesterbar opened a branch in the Rembrandtsplein17, right under the Nest, the location from where De Hoeksteen Live! Television is cablecasted!!!

-Restaurant Le Pecheur. Reguliersdwarsstr. 32. Tel: + 31 (0)20 6243121. Fax: + 31 (0)20 6243121. Open for Lunch from 12.00. to 15.00 and from17.00 to 23.00 for Diner. Closed on Sundays. All mayor cards accepted. Le Peacheur is a fish restaurant, touristic and overpriced. Located in one of the most fashionable streets in Amsterdam. Beautiful garden & terrace.

-Restaurant Pier 10. De Ruyterkade Steiger 10 Tel:+ 31 (0)20 6248276. Open daily from 18.30 to 01.00. No credit cards. Too fashionable. Too trendy. Always over booked. Propiator with an attitude. You could be asked to leave a table before you have finished your coffee because your table has been booked twice that evening. It happened to designer Anton Beeke once and he left without paying the bill! Right he was!!! (He is always right.) The good side of the story: Dorine Sanders, one of the chefs, is fantastic!

-Restaurant De Prinsenkelder. Prinsengracht 438. Tel: + 31 (0)20 4222777. Fax: + 31 (0)20 6255839. Open daily from:17.30 to 24.00. All credit cards. Conventional, touristic, middle of the road French / Italian Restaurant. Two Summer terraces.

-Restaurant Sancerre. Reestraat 28. Tel: + 31 (0)20 6278794. Open daily from 17.30 to 22.30. All Credit Cards accepted. Not bad. French with a Dutch twist (?). Friendly.

-Szmulewicz. Cafe Restaurant. Bakkerstr. 12 (around the corner from the Rembradtsplein) Tel. (020) 6202822. Open every daily from 18.30. to 23.00. Crowded some times. It is advisable to make reservations. No credit cards. Inernational kitchen with a special touch. One of the favorite hang-outs of De Hoeksteen team. The perfect place for a quick bite. Fast & efficient service. Reasonable prices.

-Le Restaurant Tout Court. Runstraat 13, (625-9639) Amsterdam. Also open for lunch every working day. The best we can think of. Managed by the master himself: the great John Fagel. This is of course the place where the Hoeksteen crew has its regular meetings. We don't care about the bill, it's worth every penny. A must, when in Amsterdam. If you have the money.

-Restaurant d' Vijff Vlieghen. Spuistr. 294 Tel: + 31 (0)20 6248369 / 6240239. Open daily from 17.30 to 23.00. All credit cards. Very touristic, very famous. Nothing exiting. The perfect place to give a good time to your very conservative friends from out of town. Dutch Nouvelle Cuisine (???) Very good wines. Reasonable service.

-Cafe Restaurant Zomers. Prinsengracht 411. Tel: + 31 (0)20 6383398. Open from: 17.30 to 22.30. Mondays closed. All mayor cards accepted. Too crowded. Too trendy. Hectic service. French / International meaning French Cuisine for the Dutch.
