Klangkrieg "38 cbm"
(NDCD08) Released June 1996

"38 cbm" is a new CD release by Hamburg based KLANGKRIEG which is Felix Knoth and Tim Buhre who founded this sound project in 1987. Their interest is to filter, process, and work on urban noises, using classical composition parameters like dynamics, suspense, contrasts, tone colors etc. Seeing themselves in the tradition of Futurism they want to sensitize the listener's ear for the daily urban environment which can become music if one distnguishes between "hearing" and "listening". Since 1990 they have been using multiphonic sound projects for concerts and installations.
"38 cbm" is KLANGKRIEG's second CD release and it contains 6 pieces which were composed between 1993 and 1995, among them "38 cbm" which was an audio-work for a freight container installation commisioned by the ZKM (Center for Art and Media Technology) in Karlsruhe, Germany. Two other tracks, "Korpus 1" and "Tokkata" were constructed in a similar technique to the early tape compositions of the 50's and 60's; complex structures collaged with samples and sequences.
Comes in a special die cut and embossed box with two color booklet.
