Point of departure

Perpetuum Medium examines modern humanity in its actual (and virtual) environment. Living rooms are invaded by a series of extreme scenarios concerning the individual's social, cultural and technical development in the late 20th century. Perpetuum Medium will use various media to launch scenarios which provide a critical commentary on current trends such as the euphoria surrounding the 'digital' revolution, the glorification of the rational, and radical social change. These developments have been accompanied by an apparent discrepancy between technology's rapid progress and our deteriorating powers of jud- gement. A consistent logic is applied to the realization of this subject matter so that lapses and confusion threaten this personal web...

A brief discription

Perpetuum Medium's short satirical items are an attempt to contribute to the broad discussion concerning modern tech- nological developments and the dissemination of information. However, this is not an attempt to propagate some lofty academic point of view. On the contrary, the aim of Perpetuum Medium is to stimulate the individual's experience of reality. At present, the new media are particularly affected by a situation of empty space, a vacuum. I view this state of affairs as being an invitation to make a positive contribution to the thought processes concerning the filling of these virtual spaces. By way of completing the Internet's existing program structure, Perpetuum Medium will also contribute to the transforming of 'sensitive' software (mental property) into 'shareware'(public property) within this virtual society. So, please look upon Perpetuum medium as an "intertation" for creative internet use.
